A Yonkers family is calling for age restrictions on elderly drivers after a 92-year-old struck and killed a pedestrian Wednesday night.
According to police, 58-year-old Michael Persico was hit crossing Yonkers Avenue after leaving a pizza shop. They say an elderly man from Dobbs Ferry was behind the wheel.
Witnesses say Persico was thrown about 40 feet and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Persico's fiancée and family members say they will fight for a new law that requires elderly people to get checked every year before they are allowed to drive.
Police say no charges have been filed and the accident remains under investigation.
