Family, friends and fellow officers got a chance to pay their last respects Wednesday to the New York City police officer allegedly killed by two Yonkers men.
Thousands of people attended Officer Daniel Enchautegui's funeral at St. John Chrysostom Church in the Bronx. The 28-year-old was off duty when he tried to stop an attempted robbery next to his Pelham Bay home Saturday. Officials say before Enchautegui was killed he managed to shoot both of the suspects, 48-year-old Steven Armento and 29-year-old Lillo Brancato Jr.
Enchautegui is the second officer to die in the line of duty in two weeks. Armento faces first and second-degree murder charges. Brancato faces second-degree murder charges.
