A Peekskill family is holding out hope that their missing loved one is alive.

Jose Fernando Palta, 24, went missing Sunday night. His family believes he was at Peekskill Landing Park.

According to family members, the Peekskill man, who works as a marble counter fabricator, was drinking that night and had just gotten into an argument with his wife and made comments about ending his life.

A storm also blew in that night with fierce winds and torrential rain.

No one has been able to contact Palta since.

"We need help, if someone can help us find him so he can come home," said Maria Palta, Jose Fernando Palta’s sister. "If you recognize him, please call the police."

Palta emigrated to the United States from Ecuador a year ago.

On Thursday, several family members, including his wife and 5 year-old daughter, spent the morning scouring the Hudson River water line in search of any signs that he was there.

Peekskill police said they are investigating this as a missing person case but could not provide any further details.

Anyone with information on Palta's whereabouts is asked to call police.
