Sneaker Con is just days away, and many residents say they have been eagerly waiting since 2017 for the borough to host the event again.
To curb the craving until then, News12 caught up with "Laced Up" in Mill Basin. The local sneaker shop has a massive collection, with shoes from different brands and generations.
Orlando Suarez says it's not just about collecting, but it is a sign of the times.
"With inflation, I feel like the price range is going up," he says.
Suarez says that is why many of his shoppers have recently been purchasing Asics and New Balance, instead of Nike.
He says trends have to do with price and can also be attributed to celebrities who are linked to the specific shoes, color and style.
