Gubernatorial candidate John Faso announced Tuesday he picked Rockland County Executive Scott Vanderhoef as his running mate.
The fourth-term county executive recently turned down the option to run for state comptroller. Vanderhoef says his success at lowering property taxes in Rockland and his plans to deal with Medicaid reform make him a good candidate for the state level.
Faso and Vanderhoef will first need to beat former Massachusetts Governor William Weld for the Republican nod.
