Fatal crash on I-87 in Yonkers claims life of Ulster County man
Emergency responders from the Yonkers Fire Department and Empress EMS arrived on the scene and attempted life-saving techniques, but unfortunately, Colom was pronounced deceased at the scene.

A fatal motor vehicle crash occurred on Interstate 87 in Yonkers on Thanksgiving Day.
According to the New York State Police, Christopher A. Colom, 35, of Tillson, was driving in the left lane when his vehicle broke down. Colom exited the vehicle and was struck by a car driven by Wilmer G. Figueroa of Danbury, Connecticut.
Figueroa attempted to avoid Colom's car by swerving toward the median shoulder, where Colom was standing.

The investigation into the crash remains ongoing.
