A fire destroyed a barn at Settlers Farm on Wheeler Avenue in Florida Thursday.

Fire departments from Florida, Pine Island, Warwick and Goshen were all called to battle the blaze that started around 1 p.m. The barn was used to store hay and machinery. It took firefighters at least an hour to put out the fire. Neighbors were trying to help the owner salvage some of the equipment, but the barn was completely burned down.

The cattle grazing around the barn were brought to safety and no injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
