A group of firefighters is wrapping up work on a long-awaited wheelchair ramp for retired New York City EMS captain Kevin Haugh in Pearl River.
News 12 previously reported on the family’s struggle to get the ramp approved by the condo complex, with delays over insurance and contractor issues since May.
The Fight for Firefighters Foundation stepped in to help, even as Haugh’s condition worsened. He’s only been outside three times since May but plans to get fresh air later today.
"I'm very, very, so happy that this thing is actually being completed by being on News 12 ... everybody in this HOA and everybody in this community has been pushing this for months. It finally broke, and it finally went the right way," Haugh said.
