Firefighters fought for their lives against a Spring Valley building fire and the sweltering heat on Wednesday. The 46 Main Street building?s flames only added to the unbearable heat and humidity. The fire chief was concerned for the health of the firefighters and called in six fire departments to ensure there were enough. After escaping the building, the firefighters regained their strength in an air-conditioned fire truck and drank plenty of water. Because of the intense heat, they were only inside the building for a short time. EMS workers were standing by to help any firefighter suffering from heat exhaustion or heat stroke.Fortunately, it took very little time to extinguish the fire. The heat did not give anyone health problems.
