Five charged in illegal gambling ring in Rockland, Orange plead guilty

Five suspects pleaded guilty Wednesday in connection to an illegal gambling ring in Rockland, Orange and the Bronx.
Prosecutors say the men were part of a gambling ring with ties to an Internet site in Costa Rica. They estimate the ring took in sports bets in excess of $10 million. The five men pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge of promoting gambling. In total, 11 men have been arrested in connection to the gambling ring and investigators say more arrests may be coming.
The defendants agreed to turn over more than $300,000 to the District Attorney?s office as part of their plea deals.
