An Israeli flag has been stolen from Ramapo Town Hall in Airmont for the second time.
"We found out Monday morning. Our police had notified us that the flag had been taken,” said Town Supervisor Michael Specht during an interview with News 12 on Wednesday.
There is now a new flag up on a pole.
"Our police are investigating it, and they caught the people who did it last time and I think they're going to catch the people who did it this time,” said Supervisor Specht. “We're going to press charges and we're not going to tolerate it."
Officials first displayed the flag in October, days after the attack in Israel as a sign of solidarity.
News 12 is told they pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct and each paid $25 for a new flag.
In this latest incident, Ramapo police are confident that they will be making an arrest.
The police tell News 12 they have video that shows one person taking it as well as more footage from nearby.
Their investigation continues.
"We respect people’s right to disagree but we don't believe there's any right in committing a crime to express your disagreement,” said Specht.
A teenager stole the Israeli flag from Clarkstown town hall in November.
News 12 was told his case is being handled in family court.
