The rain is long gone in Rockland County, but the flooding it caused continues, including swallowing one neighborhood in West Nyack.

Over half a dozen families on Jeffrey Court remain trapped Thursday by 3 feet of water.

With no way across, News 12 spoke with Lori Morris who has lived here since 1959 by phone.

"This is the second worse one. The last one was 11 years ago," says Morris.

Thoughtful neighbors conducted house checks by canoe.

George Hoehmann, town supervisor of Clarkstown, says their flood gauge on the Hackensack River recorded Wednesday night's storm as the worst flood since 1960.

"We had couple of dozen people who had their vehicles submerged in flash flooding all around the town and we had a number of water rescues with fire departments and police so those are the significant ones," says Hoehmann.

The town supervisor tells News 12 the police department responded to 200 emergency calls in four hours -

across the county, there were over 80 rescues from trapped vehicles.
