Flu cases are on the rise across New York state.
There were 7,765 cases statewide of the flu the week ending Nov. 22, according to data from the state.
That's a 100% increase from the week prior.
In Westchester County, there's been 580 cases of the flu reported last week, compared to 267 the week before.
Dr. Evan Cohen, an emergency medicine doctor with Northern Westchester Hospital, says with Christmas right around the corner, it's important to get your flu shot.
"It dramatically reduces the chances that we get so sick that we have to come see people like me in the emergency department," said Cohen.
He says that while getting the flu shot doesn't prevent you from getting it, it will lessen the intensity of the virus.
