Crews knocked down a five-alarm apartment fire Tuesday morning in Yonkers.

Officials say a call reported the incident at 50 Riverdale Ave. around 9:15 a.m.

Over 80 firefighters responded. As many as five neighboring fire departments were called in on mutual aid.

Upon arrival, crews saw multiple balconies on fire. Phone calls to fire officials say people were trapped due to smoke conditions.

The fire commissioner says around 15 to 20 apartments were impacted.

One firefighter was injured, according to authorities. At least 18 to 20 people were displaced.

Officials say The Red Cross is at the scene and a shelter has been established for those in need.

Riverdale, Prospect and South Broadway were closed due to the blaze.

The cause of the blaze was not immediately clear.
