WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
A strong cold front moved across the Hudson Valley yesterday afternoon. Temperatures tumbled last night into this morning, giving us widespread amount of cold temps we haven't seen since last February.
Temperatures this morning tied the record low for White Plains of 14 degrees (set in 1966). Factor in a light breeze though, and the temps will feel into the single digits. Temperatures will try to warm up later today but will struggle to do so. Across the region, high temperatures are forecast to get into upper-20s to low-30s.
If the daytime high does not get above 27 degrees, it would set a new record for the coldest daytime high for this day. Temperatures will gradually get warmer for the weekend.
They won't be feeling like a lovely spring day, but they will feel better than today. High temps are forecast to be into the upper-30s to low-40s. The average high for this time of year is 45 degrees. We'd like to get to that, but sadly we are denied.
Late today and into Saturday morning, a weak disturbance to the south will try to bring some snow showers toward the lower counties of the Hudson Valley. Portions of Westchester and Rockland counties could see flurries move in late tonight with snow showers overnight into early Saturday morning.
Sunday night into Monday morning, a storm system will move into the Northeast. It has the chance to bring snow showers to the region overnight Sunday into Monday, where they will likely clear out before the Monday morning rush. But another round of Arctic air will move in, dropping the temperatures for the day. Temps could struggle to get into the upper-20s. Factor in some gusty winds, and we have another frigid day on the way.
