Utility crews doing routine maintenance today discovered a gas leak in a pipe underneath Route 59 and Airmont Road.
Crews shut down the road starting at around 10 a.m. to dig for the leak, but as of 4:30 p.m., the road was reopened to traffic while crews continued to work.
"We've been examining about 4,000 feet of pipe to determine where the leak is," said Mike Donovan, a spokesman for Orange and Rockland Utilities.
No evacuations were ordered due to the leak.
