Gov. Kathy Hochul announced the approval of federal aid for Westchester County after being impacted by heavy rain and flooding in September.
Gov. Hochul announced on Wednesday morning that President Joe Biden approved her request for a major disaster declaration.
Westchester County had been severely impacted by heavy rain and flooding in September, seeing more than six inches of rain in a 24-hour period.
The federal assistance will be spent on recovery and reconstruction efforts, including debris removal, emergency protective measures and repairs to public buldings and infrastructure.
The federal assistance includes Westchester, Kings, and Nassau counties.
