Gov. Kathy Hochul on Tuesday announced a home heating assistance program to help low-income New Yorkers.
The Home Energy Assistance Program will allow eligible residents to receive a one-time benefit of up to $1,000 in heating assistance as they prepare for cold weather.
Households can also apply for up to two emergency HEAP benefits if they are in danger of running out of heat. Last winter, this initiative helped residents save nearly $400 million.
HEAP applications are currently open.
