State officials are now declaring the polio virus as an "imminent threat to public health."
Gov. Kathy Hochul says the state will now expand funding and resources to help establish vaccine clinics.
There's also a plan to increase community outreach and immunization.
It's still unclear how much state funding could be heading to Nassau and Suffolk counties.
Earlier this month the polio virus was found in county wastewater, mainly in the town of North Hempstead.
