Gov. Hochul to hold state Legislature session to combat gun violence

Gov. Hochul has said she is pushing to pass new gun safety legislation in response to recent decisions made by the Supreme Court.
The Supreme Court’s decision reversed NYSRPA v. Bruen, a 100-year-old case that required people to have proper cause in order to carry a gun.
Hochul says over 662 guns have been seized this year, a 98% increase compared to last year at this time. Ghost gun seizures have also gone up a whopping 1,800% since 2018.
The governor and her team will be reviewing all options available to ensure that New Yorkers have the strongest protections available when it comes to gun control.
