Grass-root organization opposing plans to build on wetlands in Ramapo

A Rockland grass-roots organization is in strong opposition over plans to build on 200 acres of wetland in Ramapo. The site is located at the intersection of Routes 202 and 306. The serene 200 acres is called Patrick Farm and lies in the middle of an upscale neighborhood in Ramapo. The town introduced a comprehensive plan to build apartment houses and religious complexes on the land. Robert Rhodes, president of Preserve Ramapo, a grass-roots organization, says zoning for the area has illegally changed and says there are accusations of business dealings with conflicts of interest.Voters will decide on Election Day who will be in charge and how the project wil move forward. Seven villages have been in the process of suing the Town of Ramapo over the comprehensive plan for the last two years.
