The Green Haven Correctional facility remains on lockdown 24 hours after the state ordered the prison in Dutchess County to undergo a full facility search.
According to the New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision, most of the violence involved prisoners against other prisoners.
State officials say some of the staff were also assaulted. One correction officer had a broken nose, and another was cut by a weapon, according to DOCCS.
NYSCOPBA Mid-Hudson Region Vice President Chris Moreau tells News 12 during one of the incidents, an officer had his nose and hand broken after he was beaten and kicked in the face by an inmate.
"At the end of this lockdown, I'm hoping to get a multi-page summary of everything that was recovered during it," said Moreau.
A search of the facility is expected to take several days.
