Flags are at half-staff in the Village of Greenwood Lake as residents mourn the loss of a 22-year-old husband and Marine who was killed in Afghanistan.
Military officials say Scott Lynch was killed on Wednesday while conducting combat operations abroad.
The Greenwood Lake native leaves behind his young wife, Tanya, who he married just one day before he was deployed this past June.
Lynch had apparently enlisted to help pay for college. His family has gone to Delaware, where it will pick up his body as he's brought back from overseas.
Greenwood Lake Mayor Barbara Moore says there are plans for a somber homecoming ceremony in the village when the family returns from Delaware.
