A grieving mother who lost one of her twin boys in a crash in New Rochelle is thanking donors of her GoFundMe page.
Candice Edwards wrote on a GoFundMe that her son, 7-year-old Carmello Carter, was killed over the weekend when the car driven by his father slammed into a stone wall. The boy's father, Troy Carter, also died in the crash.
Carter's twin brother and older sister were also in the car and had to be rushed to the hospital for surgery.
Edwards wrote emotionally about the son she lost. "If you knew him you called him Mello, The Favorite, 2 pack, Chunks, PaPa, Car, the list goes on and on. Carmello loved to play sports, he was on the Glen Cove junior softball team and soccer team (where he was number 10 - his favorite number). He loved to ride his bicycle, ride his scooter, play basketball, Fortnite and Minecraft with his friends. He loved to eat Kraft Mac and cheese and BBQ sauce on anything. He was so outgoing but shy at the same time. Your favorite introvert and extrovert mix."
The GoFundMe has raised more than $50,000 of its $70,000 goal. The money will go toward funeral costs and hospital bills.
