A charity that typically focuses on providing housing to people in need is shifting gears to help children who are learning remotely due to the pandemic.

Habitat for Humanity of Bergen County, based in Westwood, gave out desks built by volunteers to school children on Saturday.

Twenty students from the Fanny Hillers School in Hackensack received the compact, simple desks to give them a dedicated, proper learning space that will help them focus during virtual classes.

The desks were built by a group of retired handy-persons known as the “Grayheads.” They frequently volunteer on Habitat construction sites.

This was the second round of desk distributions by Habitat Bergen.
