Gov. Kathy Hochul announced 23 new certified Climate-Smart Communities – a program that offers grants and rebates to local governments that are reducing greenhouse gas emissions and fighting climate change.
The Village of Hastings-on-Hudson was recertified silver, the highest level of achievement available.
"The program has encouraged us to benchmark ourselves against other municipalities, to learn from them, and to in turn, share what we've implemented here in Hastings-on-Hudson," said Mayor Nicola Armacost.
Tarrytown and New Rochelle were among some of the communities in Westchester County that got the bronze certification.
