Hiking
and the Hudson Valley are synonymous when it comes to this time of the year.
With a
reservation to Clover Brooke Farm in Hyde Park, you can book a hike with alpacas
and llamas on this week’s Road Trip: Close to Home.
"You get to see all the sights that the animals do, whether it's through pastures, it’s around ponds, it’s through the woods, we got some nice hills and you get some
great vistas," says Andrea Parent-Tibbets, of Clover Brooke Farm.
There are over two dozen hiking buddies - or llamas and alpacas--
for you to get to know.
And it’s not just the alpaca walks, you can also go on goat walks. "The whole purpose is to not only expose both the
family to animals, but also the inner workings of a farm,"
says Parent-Tibbets.
There are also dozens of cute little shetland sheep and Pygora
goats to learn about on this farm…and learn is the keyword here.
"There's a lot of benefits to spending time with not only on a farm
– it’s a slower life, it's a little calmer -- but
also in amongst where the animals live and get an appreciation of who they are
and just the relationship that you can build with them."
There is also the
farm’s warm and fuzzy animal experience on this farm. "So the warm and
fuzzy small animal experience typically has two rabbits, two small goats, some
chickens and it’s meant to be able to allow children to observe
from the outside before they decide to go in and spend time with them,"
explains Parent-Tibbets.
