The Village of Haverstraw has installed 10 surveillance cameras downtown that officials say will be monitored around-the-clock by police officers.
Rep. Nita Lowey secured federal funding for the system, which can store video for up to 30 days.
"This is an invaluable tool for the police department," Lowey says.
Officials say the cameras will provide real-time color images during the day and black and white ones at night.
