The Solace Springs Spa on 9W in Haverstraw has only been open a few months according to what its neighbors tell News 12, but it has already been shut down.
Haverstraw police say one of the spa employees was recently arrested for allegedly offering sexual acts for money to an undercover investigator and for not having a massage license. The 45-year-old from Queens is expected to be in Haverstraw village justice court.
News 12 spoke with people who work nearby.
"It's not something this neighborhood needs," said Vic Singh, who was working when he saw law enforcement a few days ago. "I saw a couple cop cars come in. I wasn't really sure what was going on. When I went outside, one of the neighbors told me that they arrested the lady from the massage place."
Another man said this, "I kind of figured it was going to happen eventually because all of the windows were closed up. But I kind of figured something was going on inside there... They did the right thing of shutting it down. I don't think that should be something going on around here."
The enforcement was a joint effort by Haverstraw and State police looking into allegations of prostitution.
The Village of Haverstraw Building Department revoked the businesses certificate of occupancy, ultimately closing it.
In a statement town supervisor Howard Phillips said, "We will enforce the law to its full extent to ensure that these massage parlors are only doing what they are licensed to do and nothing else."
News 12 called the number seen on the business and left a message.
As News 12 reported earlier this month, a series of arrests and closures were made at similar businesses in Clarkstown.
