Here are some stories making headlines in the Hudson Valley.
The murder trial of real estate heir Robert Durst is currently on pause because the 78-year-old man is hospitalized in jail. He was accused of killing Susan Berman more than two decades ago. Now, attorneys are calling on the Westchester District Attorney to act swiftly and charge Durst in the disappearance of his first wife Kathleen, who disappeared from her South Salem home in 1982.
An investigation is presently underway into a deadly house fire that happened on Barron Road in Montgomery. Flames sparked around 7 a.m. Thursday, while a man was trapped inside. First responders rushed him to a hospital, where he died. Two other people inside the burning home made it out safely. Officials are now working to determine a cause for the fire.
An arrest has been made in the random attack of a man walking on Willett Avenue in Port Chester back in May. Police say the victim was punched so hard in the face that he may need surgery.
A Newburgh man died after falling into the Hudson River. The victim has been identified as 35-year-old Maurice Pryce. Divers from fire departments across Orange County responded to the scene. They say he was walking along the water with friends Wednesday night when he fell in and never resurfaced. Officials told News 12 that they found the man's body near the docks where he fell around 9:30 a.m. Thursday.
