Headlines: Fatal stabbing, fugitive arrested, oil spill identified
Here are some of the stories making headlines in the Hudson
Valley.
A man is
dead after being stabbed in the City of Poughkeepsie Friday night. Police say
they responded to 37 North Clinton St. and found 55-year-old Anthony Gray
bleeding from stab wounds. He was taken to the hospital, but did not survive. Anyone with information is urged
to call police at (845) 451-7577.
A
fugitive was arrested in Sloatsburg on Monday. Police say
the 43-year-old suspect was wanted for a felony in Vermont. Ramapo police found
him yesterday morning hiding in the woods near Sterling Mine Road. According to
police, he has two active warrants out of upstate New York for felony charges.
He's waiting to be arraigned.
The cause
of an oil spill in Yonkers has been identified. A broken pipe at Westchester
Hills School 29 has been determined to be the cause. The school had to be
closed yesterday as a result. The Yonkers Fire Department and state
environmental officials responded to the spill that was contaminating a creek in the Beaumont Circle area of the city.
