Here are some stories making headlines across the Hudson Valley.
Police say a group of men took a man's wallet and car as he was walking toward the entrance of his home on Main Street in Fishkill Wednesday morning. More than a dozen officers and investigators spent hours at the scene of the crime. No arrests have been reported.
A state appellate court has upheld the murder conviction of a Mamaroneck mother in the death of her daughter. Cynthia Arce is serving 25 years to life for the 2018 murder of her 2 and a half year-old daughter Gabriella Boyd. The court noted that she had pled guilty and as a result forfeited review of her claims of ineffective counsel. In her plea, Arce admitted killing Gabriella the morning after the young girl's father got a court order granting him custody.
The director of a Suffern funeral home has pled guilty to defrauding 90 victims of over half a million dollars. Authorities say 54-year-old Leonard Scarr of the Scarr Funeral Home did not deposit his clients funds into burial accounts, but instead he used them for personal expenses. As part of his plea, Scarr is expected to receive a prison sentence of 2 to 6 years and pay back all the money he stole.
