Here are some stories making
headlines across the Hudson Valley.
Two people were seriously hurt after flames
broke out at the Brigham Senior Housing complex in Kingston Sunday. The call for help came just after 9 p.m. By the time
fire crews arrived at the scene, they say heavy smoke could be seen billowing
from one of the buildings. No word on
what caused this fire.
Students will
return to class at Newburgh Free Academy today after a shooting forced the
district to shut down three campuses. The
incident happened last Wednesday, sending four teens to the hospital. As a result - classes were canceled Thursday and
Friday. There is still no word on a
suspect or motive.
And ninth and 10th graders at Poughkeepsie High School also returning to school today, but only for a
few hours each. This is part of a phased reopening, and it comes after shots were fired near the
building last week. Juniors and seniors returned to
class this past Friday. All students are
expected to return for the full school day tomorrow. New safety protocols are
already in place, including additional police presence, new alarms, and new
safety monitors in training.
