Here are some stories making headlines across the Hudson Valley today.
A Peekskill man has been charged in connection with last Thursday's crash that injured several pedestrians on North Division Street. Peekskill police say John Watson, 56, was charged with vehicular assault and driving while ability impaired from drugs. They say Watson was driving a Cadillac Escalade when he collided with a parked vehicle, went onto the sidewalk, struck a motorcycle and then hit three pedestrians. The accident also caused damage to city- and private-owned property and buildings. One of the people hurt remains in critical condition.
Three people were injured when a box truck crashed through a Christmas tree nursery and wound up in the Saw Mill River in Hawthorne Monday. Police say it all started when a car in front of the truck -- abruptly stopped. News 12 is told he swerved, hitting another car and slamming into the nursery. Police say the driver of the gray Subaru suffered neck and back injuries. The truck's driver and a passenger also suffered neck and back injuries. All were transported to Westchester Medical Center. Police say no citations were issued for the accident.
Residents in Airmont are on the lookout for a deer they say is in big trouble. It's been almost 2 weeks since a deer trapped in a plastic pumpkin has been spotted. News 12 has learned that members of the police and fire department trailed her for four hours before she got away. Now they're leaving food out hoping to lure her in and save her. Neighbors are asking anyone willing to help to call the DEC at 844-332-3267.
