A Monroe man has been taken
into custody after state police say he set fire to his ex-girlfriend's home and
car Tuesday morning. Police say he used gasoline to ignite the flames around 2
a.m. outside 5 Jupiter Drive. Firefighters were able to knock down the flames
within about 15 minutes. No injuries have been reported.
New Rochelle police have
released video of a car wanted in connection to a homicide on May 1. As
News 12 reported, a man was killed and four others were wounded during a
weekend in which there were three separate shootings in the city. Investigators
say MD Anderson Kerny Jr., 29, of Brooklyn, was shot in the neck. He later died
from his injuries. Police are trying to figure out if the
shootings are connected.
An attorney for Patrick Edward McCaughey, accused of storming the U.S.
Capitol in January, says the Justice Department is not preparing plea deals for
them, despite published reports. But she tells
News 12 McCaughey has been released. The Connecticut man was in custody
since his arrest in South Salem in January.
Beware
of a boost in scam calls and emails pretending to be from local organizations.According to the Better Business Bureau, consumers are receiving bogus
invoices from scammers mimicking addresses of legitimate organizations, like
BBB's Mid-Hudson branch in Tarrytown. The agency has received at least 15 reports of this
over the past two weeks.
