Mount
Vernon police have arrested a man and charged him with the death of his wife.
Police say officers responded to 10 Rich Ave. on April 11 to check on the
well-being of Kaya Green after friends hadn't heard from her in several days.
Officers found Green dead from multiple stab wounds and trauma to the head.
Green's husband, Kurt Fisher, was identified as a suspect and it took weeks
before investigators found evidence linking Fisher to the crime, and had his
whereabouts confirmed. He was arrested on May 18 in Manhattan.
A man has pleaded guilty in a deadly shooting last
year in Nyack. Jason Jabouin confessed to manslaughter for killing 30-year-old Ryan
Franklin of West Haverstraw. Jabouin is now facing 20 years in prison. He is expected to be sentenced in
September.
A teen has been arrested for a shooting in Mount
Vernon. Police say 19-year-old
Kordell Reid was in his Bell Avenue home when he opened fire on a 52-year-old
man Wednesday afternoon. The victim is in stable but critical condition after undergoing
emergency surgery.
The New York State Housing Authority is offering an
additional $1,000 to the $5,000 PETA reward originally offered to find the
person responsible for the abuse and abandonment of a dog found lying in the
middle of the road in Southeast on May 17. The dog was found lying in the middle of the road near
Sodom Road and Brewster Hill. A good Samaritan who was driving at 4 a.m. on Saturday, spotted the
animal, grabbed the dog and brought him to a nearby animal hospital. The mastiff-bulldog mix was found
to be severely underweight, with broken bones and swollen paws.
