Here are some local stories making headlines this Thursday.
A convicted murderer will spend significantly less time behind bars. Nicole Addimando was originally sentenced to 19 years to life for shooting her longtime boyfriend in his sleep in 2017. The Poughkeepsie woman claims she killed the father of her two children after years of abuse. Her sentence was reduced to seven and a half years under the Domestic Violence Survivors Justice Act.
A Port Jervis man is accused of having 46 grams of fentanyl and about 11 grams of cocaine on him at a hotel room. Police say a 2-year-old was with him at the Hampton Inn in the town of Wallkill. Sheldon Cooper now faces several charges, including child endangerment.
A deck collapsed at a home on Carl Court in Hillcrest. Emergency personnel transported a 58-year-old to a hospital. There is no word yet on their condition or the cause of the collapse.
