Here are some stories making headlines across the Hudson Valley.
Police have identified the suspect in a fatal shooting in Rockland County. Authorities say Wendy Jean, 26, of South Nyack, fired shots near Main and Franklin streets in Nyack around 7 p.m. on Sunday. Officers say the victim was 35-year-old Gregory Dubuisson, of Nyack. Orangetown police have not released a motive.
Yonkers police say Michael Santiago, 34, has been charged with shooting a 43-year-old woman Saturday night. Police say the shooting stemmed from a dispute in an apartment 129 Saratoga Ave., between the suspect and the victim’s 24-year-old son. Santiago left the apartment, and then returned and allegedly fired several shots through the victim’s closed apartment door, striking the victim. She is listed in stable condition. Police say he then fired several more shots at the victim’s apartment window, before fleeing. Santiago was arrested Sunday evening, and has been charged with attempted murder and criminal possession of a weapon.
The Nuclear Regulatory Commission has approving Holtec International's purchase of Indian Point. The NRC has determined that Holtec has the necessary technical and financial qualifications to decommission Indian Point safely and within their requirements. The final reactor is set to close down in April of next year.
