Here are some stories making headlines across the Hudson Valley.
A Port Jervis man will serve seven years in prison for his involvement in a home invasion, according to the District Attorney. Talmadge Leonard pleaded guilty to breaking into a Deerpark home in April 2023. The homeowners woke up to find Leonard, masked and holding a gun. Officials stated that Leonard, along with another suspect who flashed a knife, stole money and marijuana during the incident.
The Orange County District Attorney says that 47-year-old David Johnson admitted to stealing more than $200 from a Middletown store in March of 2023. Johnson is expected to receive a six-year prison sentence when he is sentenced in May.
A Hyde Park man has been charged with threatening police. Michael Cavagnolo is accused of contacting the Hyde Park Police via phone and threatening to shoot their officers and destroy their facility, according to the Dutchess County Sheriff's Office. He has been charged with making a terroristic threat. After being arraigned, he was remanded to the county jail without bail.
