A Saugerties man is facing up to 25 years in prison for a deadly incident that occurred after a Halloween party two years ago. The Ulster County District Attorney's Office says Joseph Karolys beat David "Mickey" Myer to death. Prosecutors allege that Karolys attempted to cover up the crime by burning evidence. Myer's body was discovered the following day on Route 32. Karolys faces charges of manslaughter, assault, and tampering with physical evidence.

A former Wallkill firefighter will spend five years in prison for arson. Robert Cromie intentionally started a fire inside a garage attached to his apartment in December 2021, authorities say. The fire spread to the entire apartment, but thankfully no one was injured. Cromie was a member of the Wallkill Fire Department at the time of the crime.

A Rockland County political campaign consultant has pleaded guilty to petit larceny. Michael Bookman of Bardonia admitted to stealing more than $7,000 from a political campaign committee while acting as the campaign manager. He has been sentenced to three years of probation and ordered to pay back the stolen money.
