Here are some stories making headlines in the Hudson Valley.
A woman is recovering this morning after being thrown from a vehicle during a crash. Police say the accident happened Tuesday on the Palisades Parkway in Stony Point. The woman’s dog was also ejected from the car and did not survive. Police say just before the crash, several calls came in about a car driving on nearby Route 6 in Woodbury with three tires.
The murder trial of Scarsdale real estate heir Robert Durst is set to resume in Los Angeles in about a month. It was delayed more than a year due to the pandemic. Durst is accused of fatally shooting his once-close friend, Susan Berman, in 2000. Authorities say she was going to incriminate Durst in the disappearance of his first wife.
North Rockland families will not see a property tax increase next school year. The district will also get an additional $10.2 million in school aid and another million in relief to help pay off a tax settlement with Mirant Energy Company. Some of the money is going to help increase school programming and get kids back in the classroom full time.
