Here are some stories making headlines across the Hudson Valley.
A Poughkeepsie teen has been charged with murder and manslaughter in the stabbing death of Arlington student Quraan Smith. Police say Nestor Ortiz-Ocampo, 18, stabbed Smith outside the school on Sept. 17. 2021. Ortiz-Ocampo could spend life behind bars if convicted.
Police have now identified 65-year-old Jinta Zheng as the victim in this week's house fire in Lake Carmel. Officials say he was able to help his two grandchildren out the window, but was unable to escape the flames. There is no word yet on what caused the fire.
New Rochelle's long-time city manager is calling it a career. Charles Strome told the City Council he will remain until the end of the year when he retires. A national search to replace Strome is planned. Strome has held the position for 20 years. Mayor Noam Bramson says Strome has shaped and led a city administration characterized by integrity civility and kindness.
