Here are some stories making headlines across the Hudson Valley.
Jamaad Murphy, 27, has admitted to fatally shooting 23-year-old Matthew Napoleoni outside the Puerto Rico Latin Cuisine and Sports Bar in Wallkill back in November of 2019. Murphy is facing 23 years to life in prison. He is due back in court in December for sentencing.
A Yonkers man faces up to 15 years behind bars for a drunk driving crash in July. Westchester County District Attorney Mimi Rocah says David Poncurak pleaded guilty to multiple felonies after hitting a mother and her infant child with his car. He then crashed through a Yonkers storefront while intoxicated. Poncurak is scheduled to be sentenced on Jan. 13.
The victim in Sunday's deadly fire in Mamaroneck has now been identified. Robert Pallas, 33, who lived in the Walnut Street home - was found deceased in the basement. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
The director of the Brewster Ice Arena is facing charges for hitting a minor with a hockey stick. According to a complaint from the Putnam County Sheriff's Office, Marvin Minkler, 53, allegedly struck the 10-year-old and cursed at him for doing a drill incorrectly. Minkler is charged with endangering the welfare of a child. His attorney says the allegations will eventually be dismissed.
