Health experts are advising those who experience seasonal allergies to begin taking medication sooner as spring season approaches.
They say certain types of medications, like Benadryl, are no longer preferred for allergies.
Yet, some doctors recommend medicine like Zyrtec, but recommend taking it soon.
"Seasonal allergies always seem to creep up on us every year, and so I encourage folks to start their controller medicine. People who have seasonal allergies need to be on those controller medicines, that daily antihistamine, medicine and the nasal sprays, starting now. It takes a couple of weeks to kind of really kick in," says Dr. Christina Johns, senior medica advisor at PM Pediatric Care.
Doctors also recommend staying up to date on pollen count reports so those who experience seasonal allergies can take extra precautions to protect themselves.
