A Hudson Valley day care center is hoping to help families impacted by the sudden closures of two local child care centers in Sullivan and Ulster counties.
Healthy Kids Programs is state-licensed and has dozens of locations throughout the state, including the Monticello and the Wappingers Falls area.
Both communities saw day care centers close this month with little notice to families.
Healthy Kids Programs staff say they have spots available for those who need it.
“We were prepared to fill in where we can and help communities where we can, and really use our scale to meet that need,” says chief registration and marketing officer Heather Lynn.
Qualifying families can also apply for up to four weeks of free child care through a local Healthy Kids Programs center.
“We are trying to work with families. We know that child care is expensive, and we work really closely with each state subsidy,” says Lynn. “We are giving families up to four free weeks, perhaps more, while they are in the process of applying for tuition assistance.”
Sullivan County Head Start in Monticello announced its abrupt closure earlier this month, leaving hundreds of families scrambling for child care. Just last week, J.A.C.E. Daycare in Wappingers Falls reportedly announced its closure as of Feb. 29. The day care’s website was listed as “permanently closed” on Friday.
