A New City man says he has found a new lease on life while training for the Philadelphia Marathon, just months after surviving a near-fatal heart attack.
Ed Ilarraza, 58, says he suffered a major heart attack at the Gracepoint Gospel Fellowship on Easter Sunday. Ilarraza says he was rushed to the hospital where doctors tried to revive his heart for more than 30 minutes before he came around.
He says the near-death experience is what spurred his resolve to complete the half-marathon this Sunday.
