For most kids, Halloween means candy and costumes - but for a group of medically fragile students from Elizabeth Seton Children’s School, it meant something even sweeter: belonging.
In West Harrison, neighbors lined the streets to welcome the children, many of whom rely on ventilators or communication tablets, for a special trick-or-treat celebration.
Teachers say it was a rare and meaningful outing for students who often can’t leave the school grounds.
“Something like this, I don’t think they’ve ever experienced before,” said teacher Christine Tinervia.
Side by side with neighborhood kids - including one spirited trick-or-treater named Piper - the children collected candy, smiles and memories. Even News 12’s Lisa LaRocca joined the fun.
For one night, ghosts, goblins and good neighbors came together to make sure everyone could share in the Halloween magic.
