Temperatures will climb into the 90s in many locations in the Hudson Valley on Friday. But when the humidity is factored, it will feel well into the 100-108 degree range in many spots, especially the metro areas.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:

  • A heat advisory is in effect for Friday, from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. There is also an air quality alert in effect as well for the day on Friday due to elevated ground levels of ozone. Bottom-line, if you don't happen to have a need to go out and about Friday, it would be a good idea to relax at home with the A/C on. If the heat and air quality isn't enough of a concern, there will also be strong to severe storms coming through that may have you running back inside your homes when the booms of thunder are heard.
  • Strong to severe thunderstorms are likely across much of the region with a 2 out of 5 on our threat scale for seeing severe weather. The biggest concern will be damaging winds, as these storms move quickly through the region. They can also bring around quick downpours that may reduce visibility briefly during that afternoon ride home.
  • Saturday is looking to be the nicer day of the weekend days, with high pressure moving in. It shall still be humid, but not as bad as Friday is going to be. Temperatures will also be lowered compared to Friday as well.
  • Sunday has unsettled weather returning with a system moving into the region. Expect a very humid day with on and off storm chances. Afterwards, the heat and humidity will build for the first half of next week, where there will be several storm chances along the way.
