Despite Gov. Andrew Cuomo giving the greenlight to high-risk high school sports, the Department of Health has released new guidance that could affect student athletes this season.
The main obstacle is a requirement of athletes needing physicals, which many did not get due to the pandemic. They may also have a difficult time reaching doctors now.
Also, basketball teams, for example, are required to have six practices before they play their first game and the season ends Feb. 28.
Any delay can significantly hamper an already tiny season. Athletes are advised to get there physicals as soon as possible.
