Near record warmth today, but chilly on south shore of Long Island

It's a breezy and warm Saturday for most of us, but there's a shower chance this weekend. We're tracking that and have an hour by hour forecast for your Easter Sunday plans.

WHAT TO KNOW:

  • More clouds than sunshine. A stray shower this evening

  • Next chance for rain is Monday night, but it's mainly light showers
  • Mild and otherwise dry for most of next week
What a difference a week can make! Last Saturday it snowed at LaGuardia airport and temperatures were record cold here on the island, only 42F for a high. Today temperatures could be record WARM with highs in the low 80s for Nassau and Western Suffolk. The record for the date is 82F for Islip.
There is a strong wind from the south, so expect cooler temperatures for the beach and east. Highs here will be near 70 along Great South Bay & near 60F on the barrier islands.
TODAY: A mix of sun and clouds with a stiff breeze at 15-25 mph. Highs in the low 80s, cooler for the beach and east.
TONIGHT: A stray shower in the evening, with mostly cloudy skies. Temperatures are in the low to mid 50s for Easter Sunday sunrise services.
SUNDAY: A mix of sun and clouds in the afternoon. Breezy but pleasant with highs in the mid to upper 60s.
MONDAY: Mostly cloudy and cooler. Highs in the mid to upper 50s. A stray shower in the evening.
TUESDAY: Cloudy with a few morning showers, then warm in the afternoon. Highs in the 70s.
REST OF THE WEEK: Temperatures are warmer than average with a mix of sun and clouds and dry conditions for Wednesday and Thursday. A few showers are possible Friday. Next weekend looks cooler than this weekend, but temperatures will likely remain near or above average for the rest of the month.
